Pedicure treatments are expensive but there is nothing to worry about as you can do a pedicure at home only using simple steps. Doing pedicure at home can be a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

 Home pedicure

Things you will need for home pedicure:

  • Basin or a big container full of warm water for soaking feet
  • Nail cutter
  • Cotton pads
  • Nail polish remover
  • Cuticle cream
  • Cuticle pusher
  • Foot filer
  • Towels
  • Pumice stone
  • A good foot scrub
  • Foot moisturizer
  • A mild shampoo

First collect all the above mentioned items and then choose a well lighted room to start your home pedicure.

Here is the step by step process of home pedicure:

Remove old nail polish

Before starting the pedicure, you need to remove all the traces of old nail polish (if any) from your toe nails.  Use a nail polish remover soaked cotton ball to thoroughly remove old nail polish.

Soak in warm water

Next you need to soak your feet in a bowl containing warm water for ten to fifteen minutes. Put some mild shampoo in the water to make your skin and nails soft so that it becomes easier for you to remove the dead skins. You can use a brush and antibacterial soap to clean your feet and nails. For extra pampering, you can even add a few drops of tea tree oil or lavender oil. After that you must wipe your feet properly with a soft towel.

Trimming

Now it is time to trim your nails with the help of a nail cutter. Do not cut your toenails too short or too deep. Gently file your nails with the nail filer to give them the desired shape and finally apply a disinfectant spray to prevent nail fungus. Rinse feet and pat dry.

Exfoliate

Next step is to exfoliate the dead skin cells from your feet with the help of a natural scrub or readymade foot scrub. Use a pumice stone to soften rough spots and reduce calluses around the heel and your toes. Also try to scrub your ankles. Do not scrub your feet too hard but try to do it with gentle strokes. Rinse feet and pat dry.

Push the cuticles

Apply some cuticle cream around the nail beds and then push cuticles back with the help of an orange stick. Wash your feet again with clean water and then wipe your feet dry. Do not cut the cuticles as they protect your body from bacteria. Also cutting the cuticle can cause a lot of pain.

Apply moisturizer

It is time to apply some foot moisturizer on your dry feet. Spend some time massaging your feet in circular motions. This will result in smooth and soft skin and will also protect the ankles from having cracks. In case you do not have a food moisturizer then you can opt for almond oil or olive oil to massage your feet.

Nail polish

Now you can dress up your toe nails by painting them with a color of your choice. First apply a base coat, allow it to dry and then apply a coat of your favorite nail polish shade. Let the first coat dry completely before applying the next coat of nail polish. Finally put on a clear top coat to make your nail polish last longer.

To conclude, by following the above mentioned steps you can easily do a pedicure at home. This way you can save a lot of money and at the same time enjoy softer feet that you will be proud to show off.
